FastCompany redesigned their home page. One of my favorite websites, their content, design and innovation never cease to impress me.

MaKey MaKey works with “any material that can conduct at least a tiny bit of electricity.” For some reason, many of the suggested uses of MaKey MaKey on its website involve food: Use an apple as a computer mouse! Turn alphabet soup into a keyboard! Play the piano with bananas! It sounds totally loco, but it’s a vivid way for MaKey MaKey to make its case. Yes, anything can become an interface. Even stuff that makes no #*@&ing sense.

This is an exciting perspective. I love the fact that they don’t see Airtime as kicking out existing companies or products, but instead, exploring new opportunities. We’re on the verge of something new and exciting online, and it’s because of people like this. Thank you Sean and Shawn!

Video of Eric Ries sharing the importance of “the pivot” in business.

Posterous acquired by Twitter

I signed up for Posterous Spaces a couple months ago to play around with it. It has a lot of potential, but it didn’t fit a current need that I had, so it’s just been sitting there for now. I just received the following email this morning. This will be fun to watch and see how it benefits and changes both parties! I LOVE SOCIAL MEDIA!

Here’s the email message:

Hi Tim,

I’m thrilled to announce that Posterous has been acquired by Twitter!

The opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting, and we couldn’t be happier to bring our technology and expertise to hundreds of millions of users around the globe.  Plus, the people at Twitter are genuinely nice folks who share our vision for making sharing simpler.

Posterous Spaces will remain up and running without disruption. We’ll give users ample notice if we make any changes to the service. For users who would like to back up their content or move to another service, we’ll share clear instructions for doing so in the coming weeks.

You can find more information answers to other questions you may have here.

Finally, I’d like to offer thanks to everyone, especially those who have been with Posterous since day one. The last four years have been an amazing journey. Your encouragement, praise and criticism have made Posterous better, and I really appreciate everything you’ve done.

Thanks again and I look forward to building great things for you at Twitter.

Former Kodak CMO Jeff Hayzlett speaks with Bryan Elliott on Behind the Brand about what it takes to engage audiences, and how to explain to those number crunchers that social is valuable. For one, he said talking about return on investment is over-hyped.

I say to them, ‘What’s your return on ignoring?’” Hayzlett said. “If you’re engaged with your customers, and you have an operation that is doing what it’s supposed to be doing, then you’re going to make money.

From the Kickstarter page:

I was on my boss Emmylou’s tour bus in 2008 when a really crazy TV preacher came on the satellite TV and caused me to wonder how to counterbalance this bad PR God continues to get from his own flock.

So, I came up with the simple idea of gathering together a few great musical artists singing songs written around the basic theme of “What If God Is Love?”

I mentioned it to Emmylou Harris, and she said, “I’m in”.  So did The Civil Wars.
